Family Swap Meet – FAQs

The most popular events for the Parent Connection are the Family Swap Meets.  This year we will host three including the one coming up on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Canyon Crest Academy.

Besides the bargain entrance fee of $2/adult, you’re sure to find a great deal on baby equipment, toys, clothes, books and furniture.  Some basic information about the event is found below.

If you don’t find an answer to your question, email info@sandiegoparent.com.

SELLERS:

  • Is it possible to still get a space to sell at the Sept 30 event? – Yes, as of Sept 12 we still have about 50 slots still open.  Mail in your registration form along with your check.  A confirmation will be emailed back to you with details about the event along with your space assignment.  You can find the form on www.sandiegoparent.com under “Deals” and “Family Swap Meet”.
  • Can I request a certain location?  No, we assign the spaces on a first-come first-serve basis.
  • Refunds:  Sorry no refunds for this event.  Consider your payment a donation to the Parent Connection.  Unless there is a medical emergency.  You can assign your space to someone else if you want to, just notify us of the change so we can update our data.
  • No selling before 9am.  We will have volunteers patrolling the Family Swap Meet to make sure that vendors are not purchasing from each other before 9am.  We want to keep our buyers happy when they enter and to find out that something is already sold is very disheartening.  You may be asked not to attend the event next year if you are caught selling or buying.
  • We will have a truck for donations after the event.  If you don’t want to take home items and want to donate them, the truck generally arrives around 12:30pm to pick up donated items.  Don’t forget to ask for your tax deductible receipt.

BUYERS:

  • How early should I arrive? The first 500 shoppers receive a free shopping bag.  If you want to be one of the first group going in, plan to arrive about 1 hour prior to opening of the gates at 9am.  HINT:  There are three entrances.  The longest one is the line in front of the school.  Ask a volunteer about the other two lines.
  • Do the sellers take credit cards or checks?  Each person rents the space they are in.  It’s up to them whether they will or not.  Generally for larger items, they may be willing to take a check.  Some of the resale vendors may have credit card capability.
  • Is there an ATM on site?  No, you will have to head back to Del Mar on Del Mar Heights Rd. to get to one.
  • Admission is $2.HINT:  Bring exact change for admission.  We run short on change every time.  It helps our volunteers and makes the line streamline faster if you bring exact change.

We are a volunteer organization.  If you are available to help out a couple of hours contact Cristina at info@sandiegoparent.com.
