The volunteer codirectors recruit volunteers to assist with events throughout the year. These events include but are not limited to the Spring Fantasy Luncheon, Fall Festival, Dad’s Day and Swap Meets. They also track volunteer hours for each member who volunteers for an event and they oversee the volunteer committee.
Erica Engell
As a first time mom, Erica longed for interaction with other parents, answers to her thousands of questions and plenty of resources at her fingertips. The Parent Connection fulfilled her needs in a way that truly changed her life. She credits the Parent Connection in helping her build amazing friendships and guiding her through the journey of parenting. Erica and her husband, Danny, first joined Parent Connection when their daughter, Taylor, was born in June 2010.
Erica and Danny met at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where they both attended college.
With a love of sunshine and the ocean, San Diego became the perfect place to call home. The Engell family loves to picnic at the park, visit the zoo and spend time with friends and family.
When the opportunity arose to volunteer for a Parent Connection event, Erica jumped at the opportunity to give back to the organization that had given her so much. She volunteered for the 2010 Spring Fantasy Luncheon, which raises money for Madison’s Fund and the Community Resource Fund.
Samantha Migdal
Samantha started working with the Parent Connection in 2009. After volunteering at the Family Swap Meet and Spring Fantasy Luncheon she was asked to join the board as a volunteer codirector.
Though she is not a parent, Samantha loves working with children and hopes to have little ones of her own one day. With all the wonderful resources the Parent Connection offers, she looks forward to continuing her relationship with the organization.
Outside of the Parent Connection, Samantha works hard putting her Marketing degree from the University of San Francisco into practice. As an entrepreneur, her most recent venture is DateNight411, offering parents the ultimate night out!
